We set sail (or I guess "set engine") at the Port of Piraeus, which is located just south of Athens, aboard the Greek research vessel, the Aegaeo.

After some difficultly finding the docked ship, we loaded-up and departed not long after 9:00 am. We were all surprised by this prompt departure, as Greeks tend to be a little flexible with time. The transit to Santorini took about 10 hours, traveling at about 10 knots. We started our airgun survey to the north of the island that night, during Katy's shift. I started my first shift at 4:00 am the next morning.

This is my first veiw of the Santorini Islands and my first in a long series of sunrise photos. I was up every morning for sunrise since I worked the 4-8 shift. The island to the left is Thera and to the right is Therasia.
